Boîtiers RGB : comparatif de prix

Le RGB ne refroidit rien et n'améliore aucune performance — autant le dire tout de suite. C'est un choix esthétique, et il n'y a aucune honte à cela : un PC, on le regarde tous les jours. Nous référençons 1 231 boîtiers RGB, dès 25,42 €, avec une médiane à 87 €, quasiment identique à celle du marché.

Le vrai piège, c'est le boîtier vendu avec quatre ventilateurs RGB à 50 €. Les LED sont bien là, mais les ventilateurs sont bruyants et brassent peu d'air : vous payez la lumière en degrés. Regardez d'abord si le châssis tient la route côté airflow, le RGB ensuite.

Vérifiez aussi le mode de pilotage : ARGB 3 broches compatible avec votre carte mère, ou contrôleur propriétaire qui vous enfermera dans un écosystème. Pour un ensemble cohérent, la RAM RGB et un watercooling RGB complètent le tableau — et un châssis blanc met bien mieux les couleurs en valeur qu'un noir. Thermaltake est le plus prolifique ici.

ARGB ou RGB : quelle différence, et quel risque ?

C'est le piège numéro un du montage. Le RGB classique utilise un connecteur 4 broches en 12 V, où toutes les LED changent de couleur ensemble. L'ARGB utilise un connecteur 3 broches en 5 V, où chaque LED est adressable individuellement. Brancher une bande ARGB 5 V sur un en-tête RGB 12 V détruit les LED instantanément et définitivement. Vérifiez le voltage, pas seulement la forme du connecteur.

Faut-il un contrôleur RGB ?

Cela dépend de votre carte mère. Si elle possède des en-têtes ARGB 3 broches, vous pilotez tout depuis son logiciel. Sinon, il vous faut le contrôleur, généralement inclus avec les boîtiers RGB, avec un bouton de façade pour changer les effets. Les modèles les moins chers n'offrent que ce bouton, sans synchronisation possible : à vérifier avant l'achat.

Peut-on tout synchroniser ?

En théorie oui, via l'écosystème de la carte mère (Aura Sync, Mystic Light, RGB Fusion, Polychrome). En pratique, chaque marque de ventilateurs, de barrette mémoire et de ventirad pousse son propre logiciel, et faire cohabiter trois utilitaires RGB relève souvent du bricolage. Le plus simple : choisir des composants d'un même écosystème, ou accepter une teinte fixe.

Le RGB consomme-t-il ou chauffe-t-il ?

Négligeable : quelques watts pour l'ensemble d'un boîtier bien fourni, soit moins qu'un ventilateur. L'impact thermique est nul. Le seul vrai coût est sonore : les boîtiers RGB s'accompagnent souvent de ventilateurs choisis pour leur look plutôt que pour leur silence. Si le bruit vous importe, regardez les caractéristiques des ventilateurs, pas leurs LED.
