La DDR5 est aujourd'hui le seul choix cohérent sur une plateforme récente : AM5 et LGA 1851 ne prennent rien d'autre. Nous suivons 772 kits DDR5, à partir de 66,08 € pour une barrette d'entrée de gamme, mais la moitié du catalogue dépasse désormais 539 € : les prix de la mémoire ont flambé, et les tarifs d'aujourd'hui n'ont plus rien à voir avec ceux d'il y a un an.

Concrètement, un kit 6000 MHz CL30 en 2×16 Go suffit à tout le monde en jeu ; payer 80 € de plus pour du 8000 MHz ne se voit dans aucun titre. Le vrai point de vigilance est ailleurs : vérifiez que votre carte mère AM5 ou LGA 1851 supporte la fréquence visée, sinon le kit retombera en JEDEC et vous aurez payé pour rien.

DDR5 6000 CL30, ça change quoi face à du 5600 CL36 ?

Sur AM5, beaucoup. Le 6000 MHz permet de garder le ratio 1:1 entre la fréquence mémoire et le contrôleur du Ryzen ; au-delà, le processeur bascule en 2:1 et la latence explose. Le CL30 ajoute une latence réelle plus basse que du CL36. Résultat : quelques pour cent d'images en plus, et surtout des 1 % low plus propres. Sur nos 772 références DDR5, 246 tournent à 6000 MHz : c'est le standard, pas un luxe.

Pourquoi la DDR5 coûte-t-elle aussi cher en ce moment ?

Ce n'est pas une erreur d'affichage, c'est le marché. Conséquence pratique : achetez exactement la capacité dont vous avez besoin, ni plus, et surveillez les écarts entre marchands. Ils sont énormes sur des kits identiques.

EXPO ou XMP, quelle différence ?

Ce sont deux noms pour la même idée : un profil d'overclocking préréglé stocké dans la barrette. XMP est le format Intel, EXPO celui d'AMD. La plupart des kits DDR5 embarquent les deux, ou au moins un XMP qu'une carte mère AM5 saura généralement lire. En pratique, sur une plateforme AMD, un kit estampillé EXPO vous épargnera les réglages manuels. Vérifiez la mention sur la fiche produit avant d'acheter.

Quatre barrettes DDR5, mauvaise idée ?

Oui, dans l'immense majorité des cas. Le contrôleur mémoire des processeurs actuels peine à tenir de hautes fréquences avec quatre modules : un kit annoncé à 6000 MHz retombe souvent à 4800 ou 5200 MHz, quand il accepte de démarrer. Deux barrettes, un seul kit, dans les slots 2 et 4 de la carte mère. Si vous visez 64 Go, prenez un 2x32 Go plutôt qu'un 4x16 Go : même capacité, beaucoup moins d'ennuis.

En jeu, la DDR5 apporte-t-elle vraiment quelque chose face à la DDR4 ?

Cela dépend d'où vient la limite. Si votre carte graphique sature en 1440p, le gain sera proche de zéro. Si le processeur est le facteur limitant, en 1080p, en jeu de simulation ou dans les titres à grosse logique de calcul, la DDR5 se détache nettement, surtout sur les 1 % low. Dans les faits, on ne choisit pas vraiment : c'est la carte mère qui impose le format, pas le budget.
